Change the numbers on your files

Change Timestamp is a free utility software that enables you to manipulate the time and date on your files. Developed by OGA, this handy little tool does exactly what its name states and can change the timestamp of any file. There’s no need to install this program and it’s also easy enough to delete if you don’t need it anymore. It’s pretty easy to use—however, don’t expect it to have a lot of features.

How do I change the timestamp?

It’s easy enough to start using Change Timestamp. The download you will get is a ZIP file that you simply have to extract. It will give you a folder containing the EXE file that you have to run in order to launch the program—and this won’t start any unnecessary installations. The interface consists of a small window that displays everything you’ll need for the tool’s functions, so it’s really easy to operate.

Using the app, you can give a new date and time for when a file was last accessed or modified. You can do this by choosing the new numbers via the two fields—however, you will have to manually select the numbers by clicking on the arrow keys. The default action is to change both date and time but there are also two other options: change the date but keep the time or vice-versa.

There are also three other settings: changing the creation timestamp, changing the “Last Modified” timestamp, and changing the “Last Accessed for reading”. Once you’re ready, simply drag and drop your file to the window. Take note that this is the only way to choose your file, as there’s no “Browse” button. However, it can support multiple file processing. The tool works on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10.

Easy metadata changes

All in all, Change Timestamp is a great utility software to use in case you need to manipulate the numbers automatically set onto the metadata of a file. This tool is quite easy to use and there’s not a lot of settings you need to toggle with. However, it lacks more user-friendly features that would really benefit the more non-tech-savvy of people. Nevertheless, this is a highly-recommended program to try out.

Softonic

In Softonic we scan all the files hosted on our platform to assess and avoid any potential harm for your device. Our team performs checks each time a new file is uploaded and periodically reviews files to confirm or update their status. This comprehensive process allows us to set a status for any downloadable file as follows:

Clean

It’s extremely likely that this software program is clean.

What does this mean?

We have scanned the file and URLs associated with this software program in more than 50 of the world's leading antivirus services; no possible threat has been detected.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?

It means a benign program is wrongfully flagged as malicious due to an overly broad detection signature or algorithm used in an antivirus program.

We’d like to highlight that from time to time, we may miss a potentially malicious software program. To continue promising you a malware-free catalog of programs and apps, our team has integrated a Report Software feature in every catalog page that loops your feedback back to us.

Flag any particular issues you may encounter and Softonic will address those concerns as soon as possible.
